House Signs, Plaques & House Numbers for the discerning
home owner
A well-made, hand crafted house sign will always enhance and add value to your property as a house name or number is probably the first thing that a visitor to your home will look for. At Standingstone we offer refreshing alternatives to the house number and address plaques that are commonly available. We do not buy in sign blanks from other suppliers but make each one individually and personalise it to your order.
All signs are designed and produced in our Carmarthenshire art and craft studios using innovative design combined with traditional Fine Art casting techniques. Therefore we believe that we offer our customers something that is a little different and definitely unique.
The Heritage range is based on the classic designs of the ornate carving and ornamental plasterwork found in the grand English country houses of the eighteenth century and are differentiated by their distinctive rope-twist border. They are made in cold-cast bronze and are available with choice of decorative friezes in oak, rose or vine or as a simple, plain house name or number.
A range of five unique designs originally inspired by 13th century medieval stone carving. Foliate house name plaques have the foliage modelled in sculptural relief and are available in rose, oak, vine and strawberry themes and number plaques in an ivy design. With all Foliate signs there is a choice of large or small nameplate.
Various unique, hand-cast designs of house number plaques. Also larger signs to accommodate your home's number together with a house or street name.
Plain cold-cast bronze nameplates with no decoration come in a variety of sizes to effectively display your property's name, number or combination of both.
Plain signs in resin slate which have a white incised border which frames and complements the lettering. The white characters on the dark background ensures excellent readability.
So you know what you are getting before placing your order, you may request a draft illustration of any sign with your property's name or house number in your choice of lettering style. Simply click the 'Request a draft picture' link next to a sign, complete the details, and we'll email the illustration back to you asap - this service is free and without any obligation to buy.
Whichever name sign or address plaque you choose it will be durable, robust and completely weatherproof. They require no maintenance and are unaffected by the climate whatever their location (this is backed by a no quibble guarantee). Unlike wooden signs, they will not rot or split, or rust like some metal signs. We use a technique which etches the characters permanently into the surface of the nameplate. The combination of the crisp, white lettering on a dark background ensures excellent contrast so your house name or number can be easily read even from a good distance.
Rare and precious metals have always been sought after for their fundamental value but, for the artist, bronze is unsurpassed as a material for the creation of objects because of its inherent durability, versatility and the subtle colour that it imparts to a surface. This alloy has been used since around the 4th millennium BC; it is a mixture of copper and a small amount of tin which makes it harder than copper alone. To cast in hot pour bronze would be prohibitively expensive so we employ cold casting, a technique utilised by artists since the 1950’s using metal powder and resin. The finish is especially suited to castings with modelling in low relief for the manner in which the surface reflects the light.
We provide a high standard of customer service in a conscientious, straightforward and friendly manner. There are no annoying add-on charges for such things as lettering, fixings or delivery. When you place an order it will be processed promptly on a first come first served basis and normally sent out within 14 days of receipt.
