House Name on Glass |
|
|
Here’s another example of a house name on the glass above the front door. However, unlike the Old Bank House glass sign, I think this is not original as it looks like vinyl lettering has been used and the style is all wrong. In the first half of the 20th century, when house names on the front door glass were very popular, a signwriter would not have used this font or this colour.
The layout of the lettering is also somewhat lacking and just adds
to that spooky, haunted house mood. If Lloyd were to take a look
through the keyhole of this house he may hint that the Addams family
lived here rather than Victoria. It’s certainly not a house sign fit
for a queen and she would definitely not be amused. |
