Rectangular house plaque with printed image - Salmon Cottage

This sign has been produced by printing the colour image onto vinyl which has then been applied to a foamboard backing. Visually it’s quite pleasant and a novel use of commercial signmaking technology.

I do however have reservations about the durability of this house sign as inkjet printed colours are notorious for fading especially when outdoors and exposed to UV.

I bet this is no more than a year old and when it was first put into place the colours would have been a lot brighter. In another couple or three years they will have faded into obscurity. Also foamboard is a very lightweight commercial signage material which is easily damaged as it has no real intrinsic strength.

To sum up – nice sign, shame about the materials used.
